A new world generator is currently being worked on. This new generator is based on Accidental Noise and it is an incredible upgrade from my old simple perlin noise generator.
After combining multiple noise patterns together, I manage to get a map of data. This data is infinite in all directions. Below is a visual representation of a portion of this data:
Each pixel represents a block inside of the game. This data is what is used to render the infinite world of Infinidrill!
A lot has been happening since the last post. A very talented artist came on board, and started skinning the game and providing amazing feedback.
Below is a concept drill made by Chris Dozier.
I also am posting a early preview of some of the new land tiles. Stay tuned, a lot of very interesting developments are happening.
A artist has come on board. A lot of changes have been made to the Infinidrill engine. A lot more are to come. Stay tuned.
New art. New lighting. New generator.
Infinidrill features a interesting water physics engine. It uses a form of cellular automation in an attempt to simulate liquids.
An older video demonstrates the physics:
What happens if I fly up, instead of drill down? If you have enough fuel, you might just make it into space!
See a demo of the transition in the following video:
Started work on menus, here is the main menu:
This is what the Drill Store currently looks like. It will most likely change in appearance in the future:
Added grass to the game. Also added a compass style home guidance marker (yellow).
